Auntie Sarah

Saying goodbye is always a hard thing, but it was especially hard this past weekend. Well I guess its not goodbye, but just a parting for a couple of years. Sarah B left Monday morning for Hartford to go to school. I will and already do miss her greatly.

Its so rare to have a friend for so long and go through so many things together. She's been my best friend since college and I'm so thankful. We lived together after college and then she was in our wedding. We worked several years together at Esperanza Del Barrio, going through some great and interesting times there. When I got really sick later on, she still came to pray with and encourage me. We wanted to have her present when Caleb was born, but she was out of town. But as soon as she was back she came to see her little "nephew" when he was a week old. We've celebrated lots of birthdays together and I can laugh with her like with no one else. We can be wacky or serious and just be completely ourselves together. She's been such a constant and loving friend.

I'm closer to Jesus because of her. The times we've met to pray together through the years are so special to me. Its amazing how often we were both struggling with similar things or one of us would be feeling weak when the other was strong and able to be the encourager. She recently called Bob and I her second family, and that is really how we feel too.

So she's off to grad school and there is a hollow feeling inside me as I already miss my dear friend. We of course will remain in touch and remain good friends, but its still hard to have her gone. I will deeply miss her. Though I'm excited for new opportunities for her too.

Katie, I tried to email you but I got that spam protection email. Then the link to sign up didn't work, so the email wouldn't go through. All that to say, Leah is still in town and making plans to go to nursing school. I have her email address, email me and I can get it to you.
